My purpose for this Exhibition is to show the hope and the belief that comes from just seeing Jesus Christ in paintings. He has been the key figure in the most renowned artist. These paintings also have a connection to the fact that there is a deep curiosity in this Jesus Christ that lived more than 2,000 years ago. His words still impact the world we live in and also the art. All the artist except maybe one or two felt a calling on their talents, and that is to spread the good news out to people in the best way they knew or know how.

Kissing the Face of God by Morgan Weistling
-Morgan Weistling
-Kissing the Face of God
-December, 2008
Morgans Father and mother were both art students. He always knew he wanted to be an artist. He started gaining popularity at one man art shows which sold out five times. He likes to use his art to portray Christian values. This work was created after the artist heard a song about kissing the face of God and his imagination took him from there. I chose this work due to its joyful presence it has a true feeling of hope and love.

Ron DiCianni - He Holds the Keys

Ron uses his art to reach people all around the world to hopefully shine light on who Christ is and what He did. "In He Holds the Keys, notice the beam of light coming from the top of the stairway representing the fact that Jesus descended from Heaven in order to defeat Satan. Satan no longer holds any power, but through Jesus' death, blood and resurection, Christ conquered all. " The reason I picked this painting was due to the nature of how Christ controlled the sin and death situation we created.

-Bobby Shaw
-Jesus Smiling
-Pencil/ Portrait art
-12/17/2012
Bobby is a young student from Nazarene college in Ohio. He mostly does works to give Glory to God. The work above is reminiscent of the Jesus played in the Passion of the Christ. I chose it mainly due to the fact that this is a young artist chasing after his dream, doing what he loves to do. the art above is very peaceful and gives a sense of hope with the big warm smile on Jesus' face.

I don't think I have to say much about Leonardo but that he was and is one of the most influential artists of all time. Da Vinci painted this for a Church in Santa Maria. I chose this one mainly because of its popularity it is a great work that really shows the curiosity that Christ brought to his audience almost 2000 years ago. I do believe that this work does have a very secular feel to it and most people today use this as a joke not a work of art.

Three Marys at the Tomb - William-Adolphe Bouguereau - www.bouguereau.org
-William-Adolphe Bouguereau
-Three Mary's at the Tomb
-painting, Portrait
William was born in France and loved painting very realistic works. His fame started to skyrocket later in his life and his artwork where able to have a large price tag. But William fell quickly as taste of the buyers changed quickly.
This work was chosen by me for the exhibit due to its peaceful hope, belief and astonishment that comes with it.

-Transfiguration
-Oil

Carl was a Danish painter which was pushed by his parents to become a war hero. But Carl could not seem to stop drawing and painting. This painting shows the glory of Christ as He was transfigured on a mountain top. The painting really shows the Majesty of Christ and for that reason it will be in my exhibit.

- Caravaggio

Caravaggio is a well renowned artist that was apprenticed into art as a young man. But had a rough and difficult path in front of his way to fame. He finally was noticed after painting Christian based works. This work was to show a visual image of the moment in time when Thomas claimed he would not believe Jesus was alive until he could see and feel the wound in his hands and side.
This work connects to my theme of hope because its a point in time where we can all relate with. We all can be doubters.

Greg Olsen has been deeply invovled with painting since about the age of 12. He has been drawn to the painting more set towards Christian themes. The Artwork above shows Jesus sitting and calling out to the fishing boat telling the fishermen that have been losing the battle of cat and mouse all night to simply cast the net to the right side. This work connects to my theme due to the warm yet rich colors. This painting just has a calming presence to it.

Healing of a Blind Man

- Brian Jekel
- Healing of a Blind Man
- Oil

Jekel started life as a teacher and soon became unhappy with it then he decided to go back to school but this time for art. He became known for his very personal paintings that make the viewer feel as if they are the subject. "I've only begun to find what I need to do and there seems to be so little time", this is how Brian feels according to his website, brianjekelfineart.com.net.
The oil painting above is meant to make the viewer have a feeling of the sight coming back to this blind man as you can tell the outside edges are still fuzzy, while the at the point of action where Jesus' hand is the painting is clear. This painting connects because of the refreshing feeling of belief that comes along with being healed of a physical infirmity.

- Thomas Kinkade
- The Cross
- Painting
-23 by 25
Thomas Kinkade has always been known for how he can take a simple piece of scenery and transform it into something you would think to see in a movie or a dream. He was called the Painter of light by most.
According to thomaskinkade.com, The Cross was put into play when Thomas was asked to paint something for a wall in the Billy Graham Library. This work connects to my theme of Christianity and its basis of believing and hope just by having the cross on top of a hill with the sun rays gleaming all around it.

Conclusion

I have learned from this assignment that art exhibits are very fun to put together. They give you a deeper understanding of the artists views on how the particular work came to be or what inspired them to do it. Naturally I felt comfortable choosing my artists since I knew what direction I wanted to go in; which was more of a Christian/ believing/hope kind of path that I took. The challenging part was to get my ideas onto the blog and get them on there to let readers feel the emotions I feel as I'm trying to explain them.
I could imagine the job of a curator would be very stressful because I know I was stressing out about it and I am not even doing a actual exhibition. And as for connecting artist and their artwork to a common theme was challenging but at the same time not so due to the fact that many artist have used Christianity i.e Jesus, as a subject for their art. the real challenge was finding a close style that I felt wouldn't throw off the feel of my Exhibit.
