Jekel started life as a teacher and soon became unhappy with it then he decided to go back to school but this time for art. He became known for his very personal paintings that make the viewer feel as if they are the subject. The oil painting above is meant to make the viewer have a feeling of the sight coming back to this blind man as you can tell the outside edges are still fuzzy, while the at the point of action where Jesus' hand is the painting is clear. This painting connects because of the refreshing feeling of belief that comes along with being healed of a physical infirmity.
